FANTOMAS: DAVE LOMBARDO To Miss European Tour, TERRY BOZZIO To Step In
April 17, 2005Drum legend Terry Bozzio (FRANK ZAPPA, STEVE VAI) will be replacing SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo on FANTOMAS' upcoming European tour, which is scheduled to take place June/July. Lombardo is reportedly unable to make FANTOMAS' European trek due to a scheduling conflict with SLAYER's own European tour, which is slated to begin late May.
FANTOMAS, whose lineup also features former FAITH NO MORE singer Mike Patton, MR. BUNGLE bassist Trevor Dunn, and MELVINS guitarist Buzz Osborne, are touring in support of their latest release, "Suspended Animation", available now on Ipecac Records.
"Suspended Animation" features 30 tracks, each titled after a different day in the month of April. The first manufacturing run of the set features a 30-page spiral-bound calendar to house the CD, with artwork by Japanese cartoonist Yoshimoto Mara. Sprinkled throughout the typically schizophrenic music are a bevy of cartoon samples, including Bugs Bunny's famous rhetorical question, "Well, what did you expect in an opera? A happy ending?," which ends the disc.
